Skebo regularly conducts a housing survey to gain better insight into the needs and preferences of future tenants. This year's results provide a clear picture of what many people in the queue are looking for and what is important to them going forward.
The response rate landed at 11 percent, with 80 percent of respondents residing in Skellefteå municipality.
According to Anna Ersson, customer and marketing manager at Skebo, the survey is an important tool to understand the expectations of future tenants.
– The purpose is to gain a better understanding of what our future tenants are seeking and needing. It also helps us reach out to the right individuals and create as good matches as possible.
Why choose rental housing?
A recurring answer is that rental housing is perceived as simple and secure accommodation. Many appreciate not having the responsibility for maintenance and service, which also provides greater flexibility in different stages of life.
Why join the queue?
The vast majority join the queue to accumulate points for a future move. Only a small percentage indicate an urgent need for housing, which is at roughly the same level as in 2022 when the survey was last conducted. Long-term planning is the main driver for joining the queue.
Where do people prefer to live?
The location question stands out:
80 percent of those in the queue want to live in central Skellefteå. Interest in housing for individuals over the age of 55 also remains high.
At the same time, the situation is not entirely straightforward. Despite many indicating an urgent need, there are currently over 200 vacancies in Skebo's properties.
– It may seem contradictory that the need is so clear while we have vacant apartments. Here, we need to understand more about the reasons behind the responses and how we can help more people find the right home," says Anna Ersson.
The housing queue continues to grow. Over three years, it has increased by 23,000 individuals, indicating a significant and long-term interest in Skebo's housing.
– It is clear that many see rental housing as an attractive option. The survey provides valuable information on how we can develop our offering and better meet the needs," says Anna.
