SKEBO Skelleftebostäder AB becomes the first real estate company in Sweden to join the SAS Corporate Sustainability Program. This partnership entails Skelleftebostäder purchasing sustainable aviation fuel for all its business travels with SAS during 2023 and 2024.

The SAS Corporate Sustainability Program (CSP) is an initiative designed to meet the demand for sustainable aviation fuel while simultaneously reducing the climate impact of emissions from air travel and air freight. The key factor in reducing emissions from the aviation sector is replacing fossil fuels (kerosene) with sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).

SKEBO Skelleftebostäder AB takes responsibility for its air travel and invests in biofuels for trips purchased from SAS when employees need to fly for business. This means they are buying SAF fuel equivalent to 100 percent of the business travels. This is one of several steps the company is taking to reduce carbon emissions from its operations. Even if the biofuel is not used in the specific aircraft, it will displace fossil aviation fuel in another domestic flight in Sweden. Skellefteå municipality initiated this effort, and now SKEBO follows as the third company in Skellefteå, being the first real estate company in Sweden to do so.

"We want to take responsibility for those times when flying is the only option for business travel. We hope that this also contributes to spreading the possibilities and market development for various forms of sustainable air travel for everyone. The cost does not go towards carbon offsetting but towards reducing emissions," says Helena Markgren, CEO of Skebo.

"SAS aims to reduce aviation emissions and ultimately achieve net-zero emissions. To succeed in this, collaboration with others is necessary. By involving our customers, we can reduce CO2 emissions and enable a more widespread production of sustainable aviation fuels. We view Skelleftebostäder, as the third partner in Skellefteå, choosing to join our Corporate Sustainability Program, very positively," says Ann-Sofie Hörlin, Head of Sustainability at SAS.

Facts:
Fly Carbon-Free with SAS
The SAS Corporate Sustainability Program is designed to achieve sustainable aviation goals and secure the future of aviation together with partners. SAS invites all its corporate customers to join by offering a subscription at a fixed cost or reduced carbon emissions.

SAS does not make a profit from the purchase. The amount the customer pays corresponds to the price of SAF. The program is audited by an external party to ensure full transparency.

Compared to fossil fuels, sustainable aviation fuels significantly reduce climate-impacting CO2 emissions throughout their lifecycle.
