At Skebo, we want you to have a comfortable indoor climate all year round. Here you can find information on how the heating works in your apartment, how you can influence the temperature yourself, and what to do if it feels too cold.
Right Indoor Temperature
Our apartments should maintain a temperature of around 20-21 degrees Celsius in the middle of the room, following the recommendations of the Public Health Agency.
If the radiators feel cold, it doesn't always mean it's too cold – the important thing is that the room temperature is correct. To check the temperature, you can measure in the middle of the room, at least one meter from the outer wall and about 1.5 meters above the floor.
At Skebo, we also have a responsibility to reduce our climate impact. Every degree increase in indoor temperature increases energy consumption, so it's important to maintain a moderate temperature – for both comfort and the environment.
How Heating Works
Heat is distributed by circulating hot water in the radiators. Each radiator has a thermostat valve that senses the room temperature and releases heat as needed.
When the thermostat detects the right room temperature, it shuts off the flow of water, and the radiator cools down. When the temperature drops, the thermostat reopens the flow, and the radiator becomes warm again. This way, a consistent indoor temperature is maintained.
Our properties have a centrally controlled heating system that adjusts the heat automatically based on the outdoor temperature. This means that radiators can sometimes feel cold even if the room temperature is completely fine.
During the summer half-year – and sometimes also during spring and fall – the heating is turned off completely or partially when it's not needed to maintain the correct indoor temperature.
Tips for a Consistent Indoor Climate
- Place sofas or other large furniture pieces away from the radiators so that the heat can spread properly in the room.
- Avoid thick curtains in front of the radiators. They can block the heat and make the thermostat think the room is warmer than it is, causing the radiator to shut off too early.
- Ventilate briefly and effectively, preferably with cross ventilation. Close the thermostat valves during this time.
- Don't leave windows slightly open for long periods, as a lot of heat is lost, and energy consumption increases.
If the Temperature Still Feels Low
If you follow the above tips but still feel cold, you can measure the room temperature for several days in a row in the middle of the room, at least one meter from the outer wall and about 1.5 meters above the floor.
If the thermometer shows below 20 degrees for several days consecutively, you can make a service report via My Pages, and we will help you check the heating.
Together, We Save Energy
By everyone working together to maintain the right temperature and use heating smartly, we create a comfortable indoor climate and contribute to a more sustainable environment.

Indoor Temperature in the Summer
During hot summer days, it can sometimes feel warm in the apartment, especially when the sun is shining and during extended periods of high heat or heatwaves. This is completely normal and something all residences are affected by.
There are several things you can do to keep the temperature down and make it a little cooler at home:
- Close windows and doors during the day to prevent hot air from entering.
- Draw curtains, blinds, or shades where the sun shines.
- Ventilate in the evening or at night when the outside air is cooler, preferably with cross ventilation if possible.
- Moisten a sheet with cold water and hang it in front of an open window. The air blowing in will be slightly cooled.
- Keep vents open so that ventilation works as it should.
- Turn off electronics and lights that are not in use – they emit heat.
- Avoid using the oven and stove during the hottest hours.
- Use a fan to create a more comfortable feeling. Tip: place a bowl of ice in front of the fan for extra coolness.
By following these simple tips, you can make the apartment more comfortable during hot summer days and create a cooler and more pleasant indoor environment.
