At Skebo, we want you to have a comfortable indoor climate all year round. Here you will find information on how the heating works in your apartment, how you can influence the temperature yourself, and what you can do if it feels too cold.
Right Indoor Temperature
Our apartments should maintain a temperature of approximately 20-21 degrees in the middle of the room, following the recommendations of the Swedish Public Health Agency.
If the radiators feel cold, it doesn't always mean that it's too cold - what's important is the room temperature. To check the temperature, you can measure in the middle of the room, at least one meter from an exterior wall and about 1.5 meters above the floor.
At Skebo, we also have a responsibility to reduce our climate impact. Every degree increase in indoor temperature increases energy consumption, so it's important to maintain a moderate temperature - for both comfort and the environment.
How Heating Works
Heat is distributed by circulating hot water in the radiators. Each radiator has a thermostat valve that senses the room temperature and releases heat when needed.
When the thermostat detects the right temperature in the room, it shuts off the water flow, and the radiator cools down. When the temperature drops, the thermostat opens the flow again, and the radiator heats up. This way, a steady indoor temperature is maintained.
Our properties have a centrally controlled heating system that automatically adjusts the heat based on the outdoor temperature. This means that the radiators may sometimes feel cold, even if the room temperature is perfectly fine.
During the summer months - and sometimes during spring and fall - the heating is completely or partially turned off when not needed to maintain the proper indoor temperature.
Tips for a Consistent Indoor Climate
- Place sofas or other large furniture pieces a bit away from the radiators so that the heat can spread evenly in the room.
- Avoid thick curtains in front of the radiators. They can hinder heat distribution and make the thermostat think the room is warmer than it actually is, causing the radiator to shut off too early.
- Ventilate briefly and effectively, preferably with cross-ventilation. Close the thermostat valves during this time.
- Don't leave windows partially open for long periods, as a lot of heat is lost and energy consumption increases.
If the Temperature Still Feels Low
If you follow the above tips but still feel it's cold, measure the room temperature for several days in a row in the middle of the room, at least one meter from an external wall and about 1.5 meters above the floor.
If the thermometer shows below 20 degrees for several days, you can make a service request via My Pages, and we will help you check the heating.
Together, We Save Energy
By everyone working together to maintain the right temperature and use heating in a smart way, we create a comfortable indoor climate and contribute to a more sustainable environment.
